The epic life and times of the "Ernestina-Morrissey" is America’s story, and it is being brought to life in the documentary film / series, Sails Over Ice and Seas, co-produced by Voyage Digital Media and the National Maritime Historical Society, and is being made possible by a grant from The H.F. Lenfest Fund of The Philadelphia Foundation. The schooner "Ernestina-Morrissey" was built and launched in Essex MA and sailed out of Gloucester as a dory fisherman in 1894. She went on to explore the Arctic for twenties years with the legendary Captain Bob Bartlett (1926 – 1946); traversed the Atlantic in the Cape Verde Packet trade, the last regularly scheduled trade that brought immigrants and cargo to the shores of America (1948 – 1968); and she is now being completely rehabilitated so that she can continue her mission as an educational, cultural and sail training vessel (1982 – present).
